CIT I - Camp Etgar

Teen program that combines counselor training, travel, and community service work

(Upon completion of a successful season, each CIT will receive a $50 honorarium)

CIT I/Camp Etar is the ideal program to meet the unique needs of the teen interested in increasing responsibility and teen travel. CIT I/Etar teens et a taste of being a camp counselor, o on great trips and play a role in healing the world.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, teens work with children and being to learn the skills of being a camp counselor. On Mondays and Wednesdays, they o on trips and on Fridays they participate in fun and meaningful community service projects that help to make the world a better place.

A feature of CIT I/Etar is that the teens themselves provide meaningful input into the scheduling of the trips and community service projects. Past community service projects have included visiting homebound seniors, preparing a meal for the homeless, participating in an integrated sports day with teens with special needs, organizing a car wash and bowl-a-thon for charity, restoring a Jewish cemetery, and working at the Camp Carnival.

Past trips have included a Comedy Club in Manhattan, Mountain Creek Water Park, Palisades Mall, Seaside Heights, Dorney Park, great Adventure, NBC Studios and more.

The program is highlighted by 2 extended overnight trips to Virginia and the New Jersey “Y” campsite in Milford, Pennsylvania. The itinerary for the four day trip to Virginia may include visits to Kings Dominion, Busch gardens, Water Country USA, Virginia Beach and Baltimore’s famed Inner Harbor.

The seven day trip to the New Jersey “Y” camp site includes comfortable cabin accommodations (indoor showers and bathroom facilities) and all meals. At the picturesque campgrounds teens are able to participate in a Ropes Challenge Course, mountain biking, traditional sports activities and others like lacrosse, golf, tennis, and roller hockey. The extended overnights include a spirit filled Shabbat experience.”

 Minimum registration is required.

*Teens entering grade 10 have an option of attending CIT I or CIT II
