Early Stage Memory Center

Benefits of Early Stage Social Programs

“Early stage” refers to individuals, irrespective of age, who are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia, and are in the beginning stage of the disease.

In the early stage of Alzheimer’s or related dementias, most individuals function independently. This phase can last for years. You may still drive, take part in social activities, volunteer, and even work.
With an early diagnosis, you have the opportunity to:

  • Make decisions about your future, including legal, financial & long-term care planning
  • Take advantage of available treatments
  • Participate in clinical trials
  • Benefit from local resources and support services.

These options can reduce anxiety about the unknown and lead to better outcomes.

Early-stage social programs are specifically designed for those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease or related dementia at the beginning phase. They offer meaningful activity and socialization in a friendly and supportive environment, and they allow you to remain healthy, active, engaged and independent.

My Place Mission

To support the independence and well-being of individuals with diagnosis of early stage:

  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Dementia due to Lewy Bodies
  • Vascular Dementia
  • Mixed Dementia

By respecting the individual’s rights, strengths, values and preferences and enhancing their dignity, autonomy, and self-determination. We believe that the impairment or diagnosis does not hinder one’s ability to participate and celebrate in his or her daily life or pursue their plans for the future. We encourage individuals to participate in their own plan of care and services to the fullest extent possible.

Social Adult Day Program

Caregiving isn’t easy.  We can help.

Social Adult Day program is also now available on the first Sunday of every month 1:00-4:00pm; advanced registration is required.

While your loved ones participate in the program, you have an opportunity for respite – you are free to run errands, work, tend to your routine activities, or just get a free moment to yourself.

The program operates Monday-Friday 10am-3pm, with an extended day option available until 6pm beginning September 2017.  We are flexible in terms of number of days, but we do recommend a consistent schedule to help support your loved one’s needs.

We recognize the individuality of each participant and welcome people with a variety of abilities and needs.
